Below
are four routes to reach CDR depending on which direction you are
travelling from. Routes 1 and 2 join at the T junction in Poulades
and routes 3 and 4 are basically the same depending on whether you
are travelling from Paleokastritsa or Sidari.
1. From the main Paleokastritsa road passing Diellas Supermarket
in Gouvia.
2. From the main Paleokastritsa road continuing past the Tsavros
junction
3. From Paleokastritsa travelling towards Corfu Town
4. From the direction of Skripero or Sidari
1. From the main Paleokastritsa road passing Diellas Supermarket
in Gouvia.
Corfu
Donkey Rescue can be reached by taking the right turn to Diellas
supermarket in Gouvia from the main road. If travelling from Corfu
Town direction then it is a left turn. Follow it through to the
village of Poulades. At the T junction you will see a children's
playground in front of you. Turn left and follow
the road round until you pass villa Thea on your left. As you round
the bend you will see a track to the left, (but it appears almost
in front of you) DO NOT TAKE THIS TRACK but continue for another
few yards where you will see another track on your left. Take this
track and follow it until you reach the stables on your left. (Please
note the track is very rough in parts but can be accessed by car
if care is taken) The stables are about one mile along the track.

From the main Paleokastritsa road continuing past the Tsavros junction
Take the main Paleokastritsa road from the Tsavros junction and
drive towards Paleokastritsa. After about one mile you will see
some overhead lights - yellow warning lights for the school (not
always working). As you arrive at these lights there is a turning
on the left hand side, take this turning. Immediately on your left
there is a turning marked for Casa Lucia, go past this turn and
take the next one on your left. Follow it along until you reach
Poulades and the T junction with the children's playground on your
right. Continue straight ahead (Follow the directions from
here marked in green in the directions for No.1 above.)
3. From Paleokastritsa travelling towards Corfu Town
If travelling from the direction of Paleokastritsa along the main
road towards Corfu town just before you reach the turning to Skripero
and Sidari there is a small road on the right hand side. There is
a sign saying CDR (Corfu Donkey Rescue). Take
this road which starts as a tarmac road but changes into a track further
along. It can be accessed by car but take care. Follow it along until
you reach some houses on your left and on your right some new villas.
Just after the new villas on your right you will see the track leading
to the stables. Follow it along for about one mile.
4.
From the direction of Skripero or Sidari
Take the main road towards Corfu Town and Paleocastritsa from Sidari.
At the junction where the road meets the Paleokastritsa road, turn
right towards Paleokastritsa and then after a few yards take the small
tarmac road on your left marked with a sign CDR (Corfu Donkey Rescue)
